Mr. Daniel Schwanger

B.S. in Music Education, Duquesne University

Daniel Schwanger is currently an Instrumental Music Teacher in the Troy Area School District in Troy, PA, where he directs the Concert Band, the Trojan Marching Band, the Jazz Band, the 7th/8th Grade Band, and the 5th Grade Band.  He also teaches Music Theory and 8th Grade General Music.  Prior to working in Troy, Mr. Schwanger taught in the Council Rock School District and the Williamsport Area School District.  He is currently serving as the President of the Bradford/Sullivan County Music Educators Association. He teaches horn and other brass instruments privately.

Mr. Schwanger is a graduate of Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education.  While growing up, Mr. Schwanger attended grades K-12 in the Boyertown Area School District, where he gradutated from Boyertown Area High School.  Mr. Schwanger is active as a Horn player and has performed in many areas of Pennsylvania.  He has performed with the Williamsport Symphony Orchestra, the Susquehanna Valley Chorale, the Billtown Brass, The Penn Central Wind Band, the Repasz Band, the Pittsburgh Opera Center, the Duquesne University Wind Symphony and Symphony Orchestra, the Bucknell Symphony Orchestra, the Lycoming College Band, and the Reading Pops Orchestra, in addition to performing for various school musicals, church services, and other events.  He has also performed and toured as a vocalist in the Duquesne University Chamber Singers, and was a member of the Bach Choir of Pittsburgh.

Mr. Schwanger currently resides in Cogan Station, PA, with his wife Carol and their daughter Madelyn.  They are expecting their second child in late march/early April 2012.  His interests include attending and serving at the First United Methodist Church in Williamsport and singing in the Chancel Choir, playing church softball, practicing his horn, doing yard and house work, watching TV, spending time with his immediate and extended family, and hanging out with his great friends.
